One of the largest Russian online cinemas TVzavr has become a resident of the Russian innovation center “SKOLKOVO”- previously called Russian “Silicon valley”. It is planned to develop unique and innovative platform for film distribution MoviesСhain by TVzavr, built on block-chain technology.

Thanks to the new platform, film producers will have direct access to viewers, allowing significant savings on intermediaries who now receive up to half of the income from each movie. This proposal will interest both majors and (especially) independent filmmakers, who will get a great chance in a transparent and reliable distribution system, increase their profitability to their projects and show their movies to a growing audience.

MoviesChain by TVzavr is one of the first block-chain platforms to use automated smart contracts (which have already received legal status in some US States). The rights holders of independent films will be able to vary the conditions of access to the video content. A smart contract – unlike standard paper contract – is created in the form of a computer program. If a pre-agreed event occurs (for example, a confirmed delivery of goods or services), it is realized automatically, without the participation of a third party (in our example – there is a payment). For the convenience of users, the platform will be equipped with a recommendation system that forms an individual variety of content based on preferences, history of requests and recommendations of friends.

The project is already supported by actors and producers of the film industry not only in Russia but also at the international level. In the framework of the 68th international film festival in Berlin there was a presentation of MoviesСhain by Tvzavr project, which was attended by leaders and experts of the film industry, as well as representatives of international media.

“The intermediaries between the Creator and the viewer will disappear once. I personally believe in block-chain technology and that it is fully applicable in cinema. It helps to properly build distribution process and promotion of the movie,” – said Mikhail Vrubel, producer of the Studio “Vodorod”.

Residence in the innovation center “SKOLKOVO” will be a major center of technological development in Russia for Tvzavr.
