TVZAVR INCREASED ANNUAL INCOME BY 100%

Online cinema tvzavr, one of the leaders of Russian online video market, announced the results of its work in 2017. For the second year Company for shows profit, income for the reporting period amounted to 550 million rubles.

By the end of 2017 income of tvzavr increased by 100% compared with 2016. Video advertising made a significant contribution to the growth of online cinema income: its share in total income of the company amounted to 45%. Income from paid content increased by 3 times.

“Online video advertising market continues to grow and develop. More and more of world’s largest companies prefer online advertising on video resources. Share of advertising income in total income of tvzavr increased by 45%, while video advertising market itself, according to IMHO, grew by 24% compared to last year. We associate this growth with increase in number of users of our Smart TV application and increase in advertisers’ interest in this platform, increase in income in CIS countries, with development and promotion of online cinema (including our offline projects with World Class fitness club network, Tretyakov gallery, Kidburg city of professions), as well as with an increase in number of unique users. Last year, service’s audience grew to 30 million unique users per month”, says Varvara Davydova, commercial Director of tvzavr.
“Paying audience of legal online video services continues to grow, but there is still a huge part of Internet users who think that price on EST movies is high. Therefore, in 2017, we relied on development of a subscription model, which is cheaper than transaction purchase, thus, having managed to attract a new audience and increase subscriber base by 25%,” says Elena Khlebnikova, content Director of online cinema.

Audience

In 2017, number of unique users per month increased by 17% compared to last year, reaching 30 million people. Most of them are residents of Central region of Russia aged 25 to 45 years, with an average income.

Tvzavr remains a partner of leading Russian and Hollywood studios, including major companies such as 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Walt Disney Pictures. In 2017, online cinema increased the library of its films to 50 thousand titles.

Difference from competitors

In 2017, online cinema tvzavr became the only player in legal online video market, which, following popular connecting offline and online technologies trend, managed to implement several successful large offline projects using digital tools. “Cycle cinema by tvzavr” in collaboration with World Class fitness clubs network, “Saturday Preview in Tretyakov gallery”, “Studio tvzavr” in children’s city of professions “Kidburg” are among them.

“Tvzavr has non-standard marketing approach. Brand does not advertise everywhere, but makes actions and campaigns loud and noticeable, contacts with consumer offline in cultural places. Thanks to cooperation with brands №1, we have tightly occupied this niche and see noticeable conversion from offline to online, which is expressed in growth of new tvzavr users and loyalty to our brand: each of the projects has provided us with more than 80 million potential contacts with a new audience only at the launch stage. In 2018, we plan to continue the development of this direction,” says Olesya Teplova, marketing and PR Director of tvzavr online cinema.

Blockchain

One of the main projects of tvzavr online cinema this year is movies Chain by tvzavr – the only project based on blockchain technology for film industry in Russia. First it was presented to public at Berlin film festival “Berlinale”. The service will connect producers of films with audience, significantly reducing the costs of marketing and distribution. ICO is scheduled for mid-April.

“First of all, this platform opens up new opportunities for independent filmmakers, offering them simple and financially attractive – by removing intermediaries – scheme of distribution of content through online
platforms. Film fans will have the opportunity to watch movies virtually immediately after festival premieres”, – said Varvara Davydova, commercial Director of tvzavr.
