TO REMEMBER. T24 PREPARING HIGH-TECH PROJECT ABOUT THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR FOR YOUTH

Journalists of “T24” TV channel started to create large-scale TV show about the exploits of Soviet soldiers in the Great Patriotic War. Documentary films “Our Heroes” will include memories of living soldiers, defenders and liberators of the Motherland, Heroes of the Soviet Union, as well as participants and witnesses of historical events. First episodes viewers will be able to see in February 2018.

2 February 2018 will be the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazi troops in the battle of Stalingrad. Film “Defenders of Stalingrad” from the documentary series “Our heroes” dedicated to the heroism and courage of Soviet soldiers who defeated the enemy in one of the largest battles in world history. In this project, in the broadcast of “T24” channel will be movies created with the direct participation of veterans of the Great Patriotic War.


The basis of four documentaries from the series “Our heroes” formed from memories of veterans and original archival materials. Movies filmed using the latest TV technologies, including animation and computer graphics, 4K Ultra HD, and meet the needs of the young television audience.

“Currently, the standards of production and consumption of information have changed. There is actual need of new content, understandable for a young audience. Using the latest TV technologies, we will show our real Heroes, reveal the scale of their personalities and visually recreate the picture of events,” — said maxim Ivanov, chief Director of the TV channel.


The first films tell us about the heroism of the participants of the battle of Stalingrad – Alexei Prohorovich Voloshin, Hero of the Soviet Union, Maria Gennadievna Faustova and Evgeny Petrovich Kuropatkin, Cavaliers of medal of Patriotic War, also twice awarded the title of Chevalier of the medal of the red Star, and about the merits of Vasiliy Vasilievich Reshetnikov, Sergey Nikitovich Reshetov, Boris Vasilievich Kravtsov, Heroes of the Soviet Union. The ordeal through which they had to pass, the invaluable contribution of defenders of the Motherland in the Great Victory and a peaceful future, their military courage, determination, bravery and resilience is reflected in the TV show “Our Heroes”.


Military pilot Vasily Reshetnikov during the war has made 307 combat flights, was shot down twice, escaped from behind enemy lines, was bombed by Hitler’s command post in Angerburg. Roth of Sergey Reshetov, senior Lieutenant, has participated in operation Batinskaya, which became the largest battle of World War II in Yugoslavia. Boris Kravtsov, senior Lieutenant, was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union after September 1943 when crossing the Dnepr to the island of Khortytsa, were surrounded and called artillery fire on himself, which helped to clear the island from the enemy. Because of the defenders of Stalingrad, who defended the city and defeated the German troops and their allies, a turning point in World War II was reached.

“T24” set a goal to support the best of human nature and show the most striking examples of decent behavior. People, who were awarded the title of Hero, are not just an example for compatriots. Only through their actions and the will we are here now. “Our Heroes” — is a TV show about the people, whose heroism and sacrifice we owe our lives. Plan of TV channel is to create video encyclopedia that contains the memories of all living Heroes of the Soviet Union — veterans of the Great Patriotic War”, — said Oleg Ternovoy, chief editor of the TV channel “T24”.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was the highest degree of excellence in the USSR. It was awarded people, accomplished the feat during combat operations or other outstanding distinguished services to the country. The title was established by Resolution of the CEC of the USSR of April 16, 1934. On 1 August 1939 as additional sign for Heroes of the USSR the medal “gold Star” was approved.

During the Great Patriotic War the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 11 657 thousand people, 3051 of whom – after death. This list contains 107 fighters who were heroes twice (7 awarded posthumously), also total number of awardees included 90 women (49 — posthumously). During the existence of the USSR the title of Hero of the Soviet Union was given to 12 thousand 776 people. 154 people of them was honored twice, 3 people – 3 times, and 2 people – 4 times.

Documentary series will support the tradition of lighting of worthy human actions and tell a young television audience about the contribution of the Heroes in the liberation of the country.

In the current year in the framework of the project of “T24” a film dedicated to the Heroes of the battle of Kursk is also preparing to release. The show will coincide with the 75th anniversary of the victory in the largest ever tank battle, which was attended by about two million people, six thousand tanks, four thousand aircraft.
