In the New Year’s eve, according to tradition, online cinema ivi, the largest service of legal video content in Russia has analyzed the preferences of its Russian users to see which movies were the most popular in the expiring 2017.
As a result of the research of activity of users, the No. 1 film in 2017 was a project of Kim Druzhinin and Andrey Shalyopa “28 Panfilovs”(28 Panfilovtsev). This movie has been watched by the audience over 1.8 million times. The second most popular film in 2017 became Hollywood project “Gods of Egypt” with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gerard Butler in the lead roles. The hit of domestic film industry – “The best day” (Samiy Luchshiy Den) with Dmitry Nagiyev in the title role closes the three leaders.
Meanwhile, in 2017 users of the ivi service the most actively discussed film “Bride” (Nevesta) of Svyatoslav Podgayevskiy – it is the first Russian horror movie, shot with the participation of online cinema ivi. The three most talked about films of the year, in addition to “Bride”, included such movies as “Classmates: a new twist” (Odnoklassnitsy: noviy povorot) and nominee for “Oscar” – “La La Land”.
The most popular actors in 2017 became Jan Tsapnik, Konstantin Khabenskiy and Jason Statham. Elena Panova, Alexandra Ursulyak, and Svetlana Khodchenkova were the most popular Actresses among the audience of online cinema ivi in Russia.
TV shows and TV serial projects – the undisputed trend of the year. Everyone from critics to viewers of online services was actively discussing TV projects that appeared on screens in 2017. Among users of ivi in the 2017 the most popular were the following TV series: “Hannibal” with Mads Mikkelsen playing the main role (it was viewed over 200 000 times); Spanish serial drama “the Ark” with Mario Casas (to watch this series users spent nearly 940 000 hours) and, of course, unchanged classic – TV series “Poirot”, which from year to year has been consistently rated in the top 10 popular TV series. Leaders among the series of Russian production became “Majors” (Mazhori) “Molodezhka” and “Brigada”.
Among the young audience of online cinema ivi in Russia, the most popular were animated series “Masha and the bear” (Masha e medved), “Fiksiki” and “Puppy patrol” (Schenyachiy patrul). At all in 2017 the viewers of the online cinema in Russia spent 178 million hours watching movies; the series and serial Saga scored 203 million hours of watching in the 12 months – by the way, this figure has increased significantly compared with the year 2016. And this once again confirms the idea that big series were the trend of 2017, in both domestic and global film industry.
