As part of the global change program announced at the end of 2017, Okko, Russia’s largest online cinema operating exclusively on a paid model reduced the cost of watching movies in 4K format.

Almost twice, from 999 to 499 rubles decreased the price of new items (film, located in the service catalog for less than 12 months), and from 799 to 449 rubles – the price of watching a movie from a permanent catalog. A large part of the titles presented in 4K HDR.

“Okko’s philosophy is total immersion in viewing. One of the important factors of immersion is a wide range of content in the highest possible quality. 71% of viewers of Okko are the owners of Smart TV. These are high-tech devices with wide capabilities and Okko strives to create a product that is relevant for this platform. Since the launch of the 4K movie library in April 2017, we have noted growing interest in this format. To spur it, we decided to cut prices by almost half. Now we can say that we’ve made ultra-high resolution in online cinema truly accessible,” — said Ivan Grodetskiy, General Director of Okko.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology provides an extended dynamic range of the image, making it deeper and more reliable. Due to HDR the picture on the screen gets more colors and shades than in the standard format.

Standard 4K (also called Ultra HD) transmits the image in super-realistic resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels, about 8 million pixels. It helps to achieve high definition and a sense of “live” picture.

The catalog of Hollywood blockbusters in 4K was presented by Okko in the beginning of April 2017 and consisted of 39 units of content. Today it has been expanded to 68 titles and is constantly updated. Watching movies is carried out on the EST model – purchase content forever.
