KVG: ON RUSSIAN TV MARKET THERE ARE 90% OF THE ORIGINAL TV SERIES AND MOVIES

According to a study of TV content market of Russia by experts of KVG Research, the proportion of adapted and original series and films for TV in 2016 amounted to 10.4% and 89.6% respectively, said Maria Yerkovich, representative of the research company KVG Research, during the conference CSTB.Telecom&Media’2018. Among the new formats in 2017: Doctor Foster (“Skazhi Pravdu”), The Closer (“Isheika-2”), Awake (“Probuzhdenie”), The Bridge (“Most”) and Braquo (“Nalet”). In 2016 21 Russian projects were exported to foreign markets, data on exports of Russian content for 2017 is not specified.

The total market value of the Premier broadcast on Russian channels amounted to 49 billion rubles in 2016. At the same time 29.1 billion rubles accounted for the three largest channels (First channel, Russia 1, NTV). Series took the leading position by volume of buying the content – 38.4%.

Total volume of the Russian premiere content of 18 analyzed channels was 14.4 thousand hours in 2016. Entertainment programs took the dominant share in the total volume of premiere – 4.3 thousand hours; talk show were in the second place – 4,2 thousand hours, series and films were on the third place – around 2.4 thousand hours.

National content amounted to 72% of the total broadcast time, foreign – 28%. The leader in showing foreign content became the Disney channel – 98% of the total broadcast time; and the leader in the national content became NTV channel– 99%.

Research of TV content market in Russia was carried out for 18 channels: “Perviy Kanal”(” The First channel”) “Russia 1”, “NTV”, “STS”, “TNT”, “the Fifth channel”, “REN TV”, “TV Center”, “TV-3”, “Domashniy”, “Match TV”, “Zvezda” (Star), “CHE”, “Russia K”, “Pyatnitsa!” ( Friday!”), “Yu”, Disney, “ТНТ4”.
